Majora's Mask for the Wii U?

The following quotes are taken from a Game Informer interview with one of the guys behind the latest Zelda game for the 3DS, A Link Between Worlds.

GI: "We found Majora's Mask and another subtle reference to Link's Nintendo 64 adventure in Ravio's Journal. Are there any other Majora's Mask references that we missed?"

Shikata: "[Having Majora's Mask in Link's house] was a special request from Aonuma's production team. Now why would they ask us to do that?"

The obvious answer is that they are working on a Majora’s mask remake for the 3DS, seeing how they have already remade Ocarina of Time for the system and those two games run on the same engine it would be an easy port. But there is another, less likely alternative answer. Maybe they are remaking Majora’s Mask for the Wii U. Seeing how the 3DS has established a comfortable lead over the PS Vita and it’s the Wii U that isn’t selling, it would make sense for Nintendo to put their effort in to their home console business. My impression is that the Wind Waker remake did very well for them, at least by Wii U standards. The effort needed to remake the game for the HD generation would surely be greater than what it would take to just port the game over to the 3DS, but maybe, just maybe, they would be willing to do it. I would love to see a proper HD version of this Zelda classic, which I have to admit I never beat, even if I got very close. Now that I have these new gamer superpowers that come with not being a twelve year old boy, I should be able to finally beat the Stone Tower.
